The Worlds Thinnest Vibration Motor, Precision Microdrives' 310-118

Industrial News Buzz - The 310-118 is the world's thinnest vibrator motor and is available now at Precision Microdrives. At only 2.05mm thick with a 10mm diameter and low profile, this coin vibration motor is ideal for producing vibrations in space restricted designs for vibration alerting or haptic feedback applications.

Coin vibration motors, or "pancake" motors, work on the same principle as typical ERM pager motors. Internally, they have an unbalanced load attached to a DC motor. When the load rotates it causes the motor rapidly move back and forth, which is what we know as vibrations.

For help on understanding coin vibration motors, Precision Microdrives have created an online library ofmotor application notes offering free advice to others on using vibrating motors. Guides available include understanding how vibrator motors work, suggestions on how to drive them, and many other topics.

The 310-118 operates from a DC 3 V supply and vibrates with 1.1 G of force, almost 8 times the sensitivity of human touch. It can connect to H-bridges and driven by PWM signals for advanced haptic feedback control.

This vibration motor is available in 1+ quantities at Precision Microdrives, as with all their motors. This is ideal for prototyping and ordering samples. Precision Microdrives accept orders through their online webstore or with traditional purchase orders and they offer worldwide delivery. To download a full technical datasheet, visit the 310-118, 2mm coin vibration motor product page.
